What exactly is paintball?
At its essence, paintball is a competitive game played to win. Paintball can be summarized as a high stakes game of tag. Tag that incorporates aspects of hide and seek and capture the flag. Generally groups of 2-100+ people form teams to play a specific game. Games can last anywhere from 5 minutes to 24 hours. Types of games include elimination (where you play till the entire other team is eliminated), capture the flag (where a flag is placed at the other teams base that you must recover), manhunt (where a very large team goes after a few hidden players), or Blitz's favorite game BLACK HAWK DOWN (a spinoff of manhunt where the few players are confined to the area surrounding the helicopter and must hold of the other team for three minutes.) Talk to the Refs to arrange your favorite game. Because you shoot at other people (and get shot at!), paintball requires specific equipment (namely goggles, a marker, pressurized gas, and paintballs.) Depending on the field you play, tactics will vary -- from being quiet, sneaky and picking your shots carefully, to being loud, fast, and constantly shooting. Every game of paintball is different but there’s one thing that's for sure: it’s an adrenaline rush! |
